Where to find Zoning Information
There’s a lot involved when rezoning a property or planning for a large development. It requires oversight from several county departments, such as Public Works, Watershed Management, Board of Health and Georgia Department of Transportation just to name a few. You can also expect an assortment of specialized professionals, including surveyors, arborists and traffic engineers. With so many departments and people involved, it can difficult or overwhelming to collect all of this zoning information; especially for folks that are new to the process. Being able to find and interpret data is critical when determining how a new development could affect your neighborhood.
Let’s look at a few resources that may help you gather zoning information. Remember, every new development or zoning application is different and each requires its own set of oversight. You should talk directly to the developer or planning staff to find out what officials were involved in the planning process.
